Instructor Documents and Information

Examination Information:

To become a licensed instructor you will need to pass a three part exam with 80%.

Part 1- 50 Question Professional Knowledge
This section consists of 50 multiple choice questions related to your specific profession.  These questions will range in anatomy, physiology, bacteriology, business skills, and your specific licensed profession (i.e. cosmetologists will have questions on skin, nail, and hair).  For information on a study book, please click here.

Part 2- 35 Question State Law
This section ensures the applicant has knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations of the State when it applies to the industry.  For information on study materials, please click here and read the links on the webpage. 

Part 3- Provide a Demonstration on a 15 Minute Lesson Plan
This section provides understanding of communicating your knowledge verbally to students.  Once you submit your application for the instructor interview request you should start studying and preparing a lesson plan to last 15 minutes.  The topic and/or subject matter can be anything related to your industry.  In this section you will present your information to the Board through a structure lesson plan.  For information on lesson plan creation and development, please conduct a web search on "lesson plans".
